At $140 or 28 BB, you can't steal even if you did raise bigger.

I sat down at a table and ran into a weird situation where a few people limped in, and this guy raises to just $15 with (supposedly) AK. He was on a short stack, only about $140 total. Is there something I'm missing about this that turns it into a good play, like, ever? He got like, five callers as a result. I just can't really think of how this could be a good play with AK, but maybe things change when you're on a short stack. For what it's worth, the flop came 44K with two hearts, everyone checked to him and he shoved 125 into around 90 or so. I don't have much experience with Short Stack strategy so I'm not sure whether this is a smart play, or a common one I should be on the lookout for, or even one I should ever employ myself (though I don't short stack, so if that has something to do with this being a smart play then I guess that's out).

if you are in the position of having only 3-5 BBs then i hope its cause u were beat in a big pot... as opposed to blinding away, a totally different issue.
but in that case really any 2.. obv facecards preferred or a pair. but 3-5 blinds is REALLY little and anyone will call.. but it also depends on alot of factors. like how deep in the tourny, their stack size relative to the blinds, how tight the othe rplayers are, your position, and your image.. and maybe few others..
but honestly.. 3-5 blinds = any two cards.. in my opinion... i try to make sure im never that low in chips... once u get to around 20 blinds or so you should start makin moves. 20bbs is considered short stack."Success is a science; if you have the conditions, you will get the results" -Oscar Wilde

why do some peeps shove with 20bb or more with ak, just curious..ak is solid, but make a nice raise and play post flop play, so if you need to fold ak then fold so you can live to play another hand..just sayin

Should def never get that low on BB. But at this point any two cards in position are good. You need a double up or two to even be able to have any hand selection

it would be real hard to say why people do what they do playing poker for some its just action and fun and than you grow up personally what i see is usually people dont bet unless they have something so my advise is after flop if you dont have a part of it fold it dont be married to it

I don't know how many times I have been beat in the first few hands of an online tourney with AA, KK or QQ by a straight or 2 pair. I just quit doing it and will not go all in before the flop...ever
