    Crunch time is the phrase you are looking for...deep in a tourney when the blinds go up so much that you are left with less than 10 big blinds ..thats when people start to shove all over

    No name that I know of. The reason people do this is bc they are short stacked. The rule of thumb has always been to go all-in or fold at 10 bbs or less. Your range to do so opens up significantly as well. More recently many well know players have said that all-in or fold time should start around 15 bbs. The reason for these strategies is that you are too short to make a standard raise and have anything left behind to get people off a marginal hand. Also, you are giving yourself a better chance at getting "back in the game" by doubling up with a larger number of starting chips .

    When you're severely short-stacked (10-15bbs) there's no point in throwing in a standard bet. It's all-in or fold time.

    under 15 blinds, I shove if I'm gonna play the hand. and under ten I'm shoving w/.... well let's not give anything away.
