I use math more when I get deeper in a tourney as the blinds get bigger and more reads when the blinds are smaller early in the tourney.

In my opinion, knowing the math is definitely an advantage and helps prevent some pretty stupid mistakes that one might make otherwise. However, if you always act based purely on math you'll be extremely easy to read. My best advice is blend your intuition with the math in a way that suits you. This takes time though and so you'll need to play quite a few hands to get comfortable with it. Hope that helps!! Good luck!

I do believe that numbers do play a great deal with poker. but you must have some gut feelings and nuts.
