I don't think so. Looks to me like he was putting you on trying to steal the pot and just made a play for it. If he had the diamonds he was ridiculously lucky and if hes worth a crap with a flush would have checked the turn too. Im guessing he was prolly sitting on monsters too Qs or Js prolly.
