Both are good if you can play. They obviously take a different strategy though.

An affordable sit n' go. You start out with the same chips as everybody, and it doesn't last that long. Plus, if you keep winning, you can build a nicer bankroll. But pick a game that you're really good at though.

I would start by building at least $50 of there money before doing anything! After that, I would start by playing 5 of each genre and see which you do the best at. After that I would specialize in whichever one you win the most.

Cash can be quite a grind. Depending on the site/network you are on you can try starting with Double or Nothing SnGs. These are available on Merge and Revolution. I know on Merge you can buy in for as little as $1+fee, it's 10 handed, top 5 win $2. This can be a grind as well, but tight straight forward play usually gets you to the money. With the straight forward play it makes it easier to try and multi table these games. Traffic can be slow on weekdays. These are better on the weekends.

Nothing beats the PO freerolls though. You risk nothing for a chance at cash and getting the points to enter is easier than grinding out the money at cash tables.

hmm I agree, freerolls are the best, then sng's or tournaments.
you will get a lot of experience when playing those.
but I never understand why $1 is so little to you guys, that's just standard on any pokersite.
I wish there were really micro limits of a few cents.

go with tournaments there will be tighter players playing cash games which will be hard to win money at but tournaments will be more bad players and big final table pay outs
