    Satellite Poker

Ok I have an opportunity to go play a satellite for $45 at a nearby casino. If I win it I can an entry into a $125 deep stack that starts on a Thursday when I have to work. The other entry I win with the package is a $230 bounty deep stack tourney. I would prefer to play the bounty tourney, but since I won't be able to play in the $125 I'm not for sure if it's worth trying, or if I should just play a regular tourney there and see what happens.

I am looking for some opinions on what people would do if they couldn't do both tourneys. (yes, I know I'm not guaranteed to win the satellite, just trying to play what if and figure if it is worth my time).

Thanks everyone for whatever feedback you leave.

Not being able to play the $125 would be a significant loss in equity, but could you sell the 125 for say 75?

I have to call the casino to find out for sure what my options would be.

It says "Receipt(s) may be assigned or transferred but have no cash value." So I'm guessing I could sell the seat. The bounties in the tourney are $100 each player so if I were to be fortunate to get the package I could sell the other for my money back to a little over. If I were to take someone out in the bounty tourney that would be triple the money after selling, but not sure if I'm thinking correctly on the deal.

I'd say for $45, this is not a bad opportunity - is there any value in 2nd or 3rd place in the first tourney, or is it win or nothing? That might make a difference if you're looking at the whole picture.

The extra money goes to the people that bubble. So If they don't get the amount to add another entry package the extra is split between the next 2-5 people that bubble depending on amount of people in tournament. I'm guessing the number will be around 30 so there will be 3 entries up for grabs. They do have a regular deep stack tourney on fri and sat that cost little more but pay out better. Just trying to get the best value out of my money. Thanks everyone for the help and replies.

Could you sell one of those seats? Phil Ivey was able to play two tournies at once, but I doubt they make that exception a lot!

I went with $65 regular turbo Big Stack tourney. Only had 11 people in the tourney. I took 2 people out when my AK beat an AJ who called against a 10-8 suited preflop. Top 2 got paid. I had big chip stack lead but ran into some bad luck and bad math on my part. I lost with trip A's to a full house and blinds were 3000-6000. I was BB and called an all in for 13000 with a 3-4 (I think I was priced in but not for sure). A couple hands later I was BB and had 33, guy goes all in and had me covered. He had pocket KK. Bad part was I got 5th and as soon as I was walking out they all started talking about chopping.... I had fun played well and made a couple really good calls and folds, and misplayed a few.
