When i have pocket jacks I usually win with them 50% of the time and lose the 50%. I have been winning with them alot lately.

I agree JJ can be hard to play but if the reads you have on your opponents are decent enough, and you have a decent understanding of how to play winning poker, JJ should be a profitable hand in the long run. Versus a random hand, JJ has ~%77 equity.

Over my relatively small data set of hands I have been dealt JJ 53 times, voluntarily put money into the pot ~%94 of the time, and am winning ~%75 of those times.

I could not agree more.In fact, I would have written a very similar response earlier if I wasn't so lazy. I think that more often times than not your hand isn't important. Start thinking about what your opponent has, and what your opponent thinks you may have. You have to understand that both of you are telling a story.

I usually just make a standard raise with them and then see what comes on the flop. If any over cards come then I assume I'm probably behind and just play cautiously from then on. I don't find them to be much different than any other pair except Kings or Aces.
