yeah it's worth it. u can't win the tournament in the first hour. I used to play lots pots early but it's better to play tight till blinds go uip

best time to go all out and take chances though with the lower blinds.

the best way to look at it all i think is to play loose till people catch on then tighten up. its never too early to bluff!!!

I would definitely be tight. Say the tournament is 1500 start, and you jump off to 7000...it doesn't really matter because there's still probably 300+ people in the freeroll. Of course, the 7000 start is nice, but its better to win slowly and be strategic about it.

I would suggest calling more hands early in the tournament since you generally have more chips in the beginning and the blinds are real low. When it starts to get to the point where you have twenty or less big blinds then I would suggest tightening up.

Early I consider who I'm up against and the quality of my hand and position. If I can get away with a raise in late position with so so hands I will. In a freerolll though I am likely up against a bunch of fish so I play tight usually and wait for big hands.

You play tight early in a tournament because you cannot win the tournament in the early stages but you certainly can lose it if you get too wild and loose.

free rolls are for people to practice their new strategies and often don't have consistent plays

i also think that playing tight early is predictable and readable to many of the good players that are trying to be aggressive
