I hate tourney games.
Cash games are where it's at. Remember that we're playing poker here, not chess.
Most of time, I see ppl going to the casinos to vent their bad energy and try to relax with a few free drinks at a winning table or something.
Tourney play like watching Jason Mercier try to bluff out Phil Ivey, is, like watching a nerd try to pick up a girl not enogh action."We have met the enemy and they are ours; two ships, two brigs, one schooner and one sloop." --- O.H. Perry

I have always tried to buy in to a cash game with no more than 2.5% of my BR. Just in case you drop the first stack, you are still able to rebuy without much reservation.

I love playing cash, but it can be such a grind. You really need to put a lot of effort into cash games. Table selection is key especially on a site like carbon where the traffic can be sparse. It's also incredibly frustrating at the .02/.04 tables. These players generally are maniacs and it can be extremely frustrating and decimate your roll. Once you get to the 10NL or 20NL tables it gets to be a little better, but now the fish are less and less. You can find an edge over a thinking player if you are good enough, but it's much more challenging than it used to be pre-BF.
Good luck with the cash games.
