the 1% discipline is the hardest part, when ever i get something reasonable lets say 5-10 or 20-30 bucks I enter a big MTT

Biggest thing that helped me so far is Phil Ivey's advice on how he leaves an online table if he doesn't feel "right." Sometimes I win $1 a day, sometimes $5---but I always try and play when it doesn't feel like I'm being greedy.
Either way, I wouldn't/don't follow Chris Ferguson's rules to the "T." I play at least 10% of my buy-in in cash games and it's not hurting me.

I think it is good you are doing prep work even if it costs a month to do it. In the long run it will save you some time. In the short run it is giving you more card experience. In the long run, you will remember how you used to grind things out before ring games. I still use a combination of both. Freerolls to help my bankroll and it breaks up the monotony of ring games.

i think chris ferguson did'nt mentioned beauty FTP academy tasks that can allow u buing 3.30 step 1 ticket. so it's not so hard even with 1.6$ to complete task for 400 credits on a shallow board. then two hard sng and u got 26$ ticket to buy-in of any GTD or MTT SnG to show skill and win really LOTS...
