Plain and simple he decided that since he was gonna raise UTG and then call a 3 bet if he hit the flop he wasn't gonna fold. Don't beat yourself up you played it well and got him to put his money in very bad. I think even if you made it 10k pree on the 3bet instead of 7k he still calls and does the same thing. Just a stupid move on his part, good game tho man better luck next time

You did nothing wrong. He was going to call whatever once he hit the flop.

yuck, I think you're only chance was going all-in preflop and him folding.

yep - you played it correctly. nothing you can do about blind stupidity supported by unreasonable luck
I'm not slurring my words. I'm talking in cursive. I believe the ladies find it to be quite elegant.

You had 75% equity when he shoved with his pair. He had 5 outs, and no draws to a straight or flush. You played it fine---I will call a shove there with an overpair 95%. The player is a fool who got lucky---he should never have played a junk hand OOP to a 3bet. Don't second guess yourself on a well played hand.

I agree to a point with what your saying, But also, If I know im getting my chips in ahead, im doing it no matter the situation!! The dude at my table had no reason even being in the tour that deep in the game, he was playing bad from the time we joined tables together!!
