Post Friends at the poker table will cost you $$$$

Ok this story takes place in january 2010. I was playing 2/5 nl holdem at the horseshoe in shreveport,la (great poker room and tournys btw) also a few pro's play there often such as keith lehr, bracelet winner, ftops main event winner, all around nice guy, he staked me 500$ in a wsop main event satellite and the dude never met me before that day. And a few circuit ring winners play there also.

So anyways, i had built up my stack to around $1100 from my $400 buy in. Then a friend of mine i met while playing there, sits in the seat directly to my right. I had played several several hours with him his name is dhani, good guy. So were playin for about an hour then we decide to leave our stacks and go smoke a doobie in his car. While were smokin we come up with this dumb idea to go all rounders movie like on people at our table. Since were right beside each other, instead of chip placing like in the movie, we decided when one of us has a monster hand were gona tap the other's foot. Yes i know its not morally right on our part, we didnt know anyone else at our table and im sure we weren't the first pair to ever try this. Blame it on the lolz

So we go back and sit at the table, couple hours go by and theres no foot taps. Then the hand comes.. Dhani is in utg and im in utg+1, i look down at what everyone loves to see, them sexy Aces. So dhani opens huge to like 40$, im a little confused and i just decide to smooth call, bein all friendly and such. A guy on the button also calls, we see a flop of 6JQ rainbow. Dhani leads out for about 70$, i think for a little while and just call, guy on the button also calls, now i feel a tap come from dhani. Im thinkin wtf, so i give him a firm tap back. Then a 6 comes on the turn, so 6JQ6 board, dhani leads out for $160 which is about half the pot. I confusingly call while me and dhani foot wrestle under the table, then guy on the button decides to raise it to $400. Dhani thinks for a min then shoves for about $500 more, then he just straight up kinda whispers and tells me "your gona have to hit to win". So im sittin there with aces, its either allin or fold, and my buddys tellin me hes got me beat. Im thinkin one of them has to have QQ or JJ, so i say a few choice words in my head and dump my aces. The guy who 3 bet mumbles some words then calls all in. theres like $2400 in the middle now, a blank hits the river so its 6JQ6x board. I cant wait to see their hands and pat myself on the back for a nice fold. Guy on the button shows AQ, then my pal dhani happily flips over... King fkn King. Puked in my mouth. As he's rakin in his monster pot he asks me what i had, so i down the rest of my beer and disgustingly tell him aces. He chuckles and says, ha yea right jeff. He really did think he had the best hand. To this day he still doesnt believe i had aces, even tho i bring up that hand every time i see him and remind him i dumped $2400 in his lap.

Friends are your enemies on the felt, and leave the sneaky tricks to the movies.

*This was a 1 time thing that i would never do again as it obv cost me, dont get all judgemental on me folks

Very true sir, i never have more than 2 beers at the table, and those are just to ease any nerves i might have. However i think smoking helps, def makes me focus and think more.

You do not have any friends when you play poker.
