I decided to go play a $40 live tournament today. There was 31 runners and I made it to the final table. No one was getting out and by the time the first person got out the average stack at the table was around 6 bigs. The top 5 got money. Now let me fast forward to the top four. There is a series of many hilarious events that happen inbetween that I would love to share, but I'll save that for another time if anyone is curious. Anyways, I am in the top 4 and basically there is one monster stack and three of us supershort. The blinds are 10k/20k and I am around 52k and the others are around 50kish. I am guaranteed $110 at this point and 3rd is $190 and 2nd is $270. Now I get A 5 off on the button and with 2.5 bbs I decide to shove. I know this is the right play from a poker standpoint and 2.5bbs, but should I have folded there and let the blinds eat up the other two shortstacks first. The big stack ended up calling me with pocket 3s, so it was a race, but unfortunately I couldn't hit the cards I needed and I was out in 4th. It makes me wonder whether i should've folded and gotten a paybump. I play to win and try not to worry about the bumps, but there was virtually no chance of me catching up to the bigstack. Im curious to see what you guys would have done and whether I made the right move or not. I feel like it was still the right decision and don't feel bad about it at all, but i wonder where I would have finished had I folded.

2.5BB and Ace = push, esp when already ITM, makes no sense to hold out, i mean you waiting for them to double? lol
Other thing worth mentioning is I've had games where i was <10k chips vs a 100k stack HU and won, and been monster stack before then lost as well. You're basing your doubt on theres no way you would catch up to CL, which is a ridiculous theory that even gave you this dilemma in the first place. Chip and a chair ain't just a sayin anyways in conclusion, you played it rightAlways Remember Your RootsMakeup Owed: http://www.pokerowned.com/forums/f31/makeup-thread-post-your-makeup-here-27604.html

I dunno doubt i would want to push at the big stack. He didnt get that stack by being unlucky right? Altho passing A5 in 4 handed is crazy but if your wanting a pay bump i wouldnt challenge biggy just yet. Maybe even wait for bb to push random shit.
A5 its right move. at that point i dont think it matters what any of you shove against big boy hes catching good so i might have waited to see if one of the others bust out and push my bb. Nothing wrong with what you did tho!!Failing to Prepare is Preparing to fail : John Wooden

Don't sweat it. Right move at the time, just bad outcome.
