I played this hand at my local casino the other night. It was an interesting/tough decision. Im still not totally sure whether i made the correct play. Thought i would throw this one out to all you guys.
$1-$2 blinds. Got about $200 to start the hand.
I limped with 88 in early/ middle pos. 2 others called behind me and then the button raised to $10. BB called, and so we took 5 people to the flop.
Flop came 8910 with 2 diamonds. Everybody checked to the button raiser who bet $25. I called and one other player called.
3 People took to the turn card which was a 5 of diamonds. We again checked to the raiser who fired again for $45, leaving about $20 behind. I thought for a little while and decided to fold, and to my dismay the other player folded as well.
Also as a sidenote the player in between me and the button had over $300 making my call that much tougher. I thought it was reasonable that either the button had me beat, and if he didn't then the player in between us probably had turned a flush and was going for the check raise.
It was a Tough position, still dont know what the button had. Give me your thoughts on the hand.

personally i raise the flop. you are never gonna know where you are in a hand just check calling. if you get reraised its most likely a flush draw or over pair. either way you cannot fold a set. bad play on your part

honestly what are you trying to hit if you play 88???? an 8 correct??? you also gotta look at the pot. $50 in preflop. then another $75 on flop. you have $35 in pot when he bets $45? so you have to call $45 to win 170$ essentially and youre calling his 20$ on river. so worst fold in history even with the guy behind you with $300 stack. he didnt jam the flop so he had low PP or AK AQ. you had the nuts kid

did you ask the guy after he/she left the table? once a player asked about my cards in a tournament where i went to go all in but the dealer wasnt paying attention, talking to wait staff and well long story short i pulled my stack back and folded. later i find out the guy was probably beat by my hand. but at least i got to talk about it afterwards. just saying. that's tough board.

What kind of hands had he been raising with? The truth was, you could've pushed all in on the turn and try to run the river twice. When you have a pair, you want the set.

Honestly I put him on AA or KK, something like that, he was preflop raiser meaning he was strong before the diamonds hit the board.
