I think I probably push on the flop to minimize the chance of a flush draw hanging around for the turn. In a $1/$2 game you don't have enough on the table to get nervous about the possibility someone will make a loose call and hit another diamond. Reason being you didn't show any strength or get any info so when the diamond falls you have no idea where you stand and your opponent is going to represent the flush whether he has it or not. This is what occupational players call "scared money", and they kill it with attrition.
