I think I would have folded. he raised preflop so he had to have something before flop. Your pair just middle so I wouldn't have chanced it myself. But who knows.

I'm all in with the set....you are almost 100% ahead after flop, unless someone flopped the st8.

everybody brings up good points. but here are some things i would like to bring up in regards to most peoples arguments:
1) for those who think i should have raised the flop: This is a reasonable play in my mind IF THERE WASNT 5 PEOPLE IN THE HAND. Checkraising with bottom set on 8910 with 2 diamonds into 5 people could very well lose you more money in the long run. In Addition, most people on the flop ARE ONLY THINKING ABOUT THE RAISER. You are all failing to think about the 2 people behind me. Yes, the button continued on the flop with a bet. Now, if you raise here and one of the 2 players behind you flopped a higher set/ straight/ Flush draw, your probably getting your whole stack in the middle where your either an underdog or a small favorite. IMO these are the marginal situations that you want to stay away from.
2)On seperate note, a lot of people are saying "ITS A SET, NEVER LAY IT DOWN". To this note, i think you guys are doing yourself a great disservice by only thinking about YOUR HAND, and not thinking about your opponents hand. IMO when the button fires the turn again for most his stack AFTER the diamond hits the turn completing the flush, and having been called in 2 spots, he's saying i have a set beat. BEST CASE SCENARIO HERE IMO, is that the button raised with big overpair and turned a flush draw to go along with his overpair.
With all that being said, it is entirely reasonable that my hand was good. However, after playing more with this player i am confident that he had me beat.

I would have raised the flop with a possible flush/straight out there to see where I stood. After the turn I would have fired again and if I was raised then maybe a fold. I wouldn't have checked with trips though.

if this was a heads up pot i completely agree with you. But with 5 people in the hand in a raise pot i didnt want to get my whole stack in the middle on 8910 w/2 diamonds flop. If i check raise i have to make it $70-$80 which in effect means im going with my hand regardless of the turn since i would only have about 80ish left. Im never raising the flop only to fold the turn given stacked sizes.
And the bad part is that there are so many bad turn cards that can come off (Any diamond, 7, 6, Jack, Queen).
This is why i didnt like the raise option. I decides to just flat and see what comes off. Then when it came a diamond and the button was still firing (not scared of the diamond at all) i figured he must have bottom set beat.
Very few times if ever that i have laid down a set. However, i dont feel too terrible about this play, but who knows.

raising is still the correct play. you'll give flush and straight draws horrible odds to continue by raising. call and peeling one off is worth it to them. you got to protect your hand and find out where your hand is. you can do both by raising. the fact there was 5 people is more the reason to raise. if the swing of losing your whole stack is too scary, you're playing too high of stakes.

2 BB definitely raise on the flop, and in the case of a re-raise the turn and wait for the call!

You're right about the big bets, if afraid to make a call to a raise why play?

As played, I think the fold on the turn is correct. You have other players left to act behind you, you probably dont have the best hand and there even could be another set playing the same way as you. The board is so coordinated, that you really should be raising the flop to help define the other hands out there.
