It's so much harder to become a pro poker player now than at the beginning of the poker boom. In 2000-2004 it was fairly simple since most people were uber fish. Now everyone has some understanding of how not to play poker. This decreases any edges advanced players had before. The margins have shrunk and the value is almost gone for online poker.
The best strategy at this point is going to be good BMR and to play SnGs and MTT. On rooms like stars you can get some value from PLO cash, but NLHE is pretty much a waste of time. All you will end up doing is trading money between players.
