I reached a huge milestone. $1000 bankroll.
I did the $0 to $1000 challenge, it took 4 months. But I did it with discipline, setting goals, and following very strict bankroll management rules.
I played 140,000 hands at 4nl (.02/.04). I managed a meager 1.8bb/100. Nothing to boast about, but I learned a lot of discipline from grinding the very lowest stakes and trying to take it as seriously as possible.
4nl is not easy! That is a huge myth. The tables are filled with 6+ regs at each, and there is no max rake. The combo of these two things makes it hard to win. There are several players I consider to be good, who are losing over 20k+ hands. Got to beat your opponents and the rake!
My goals at 4nl were to build a bankroll for tournaments. Heres what I set for long term goals:
1. $1000 Bankroll I got up to $900 from cash and then started playing tournies
2. Be a top 3 4nl reg IMO, I think I am 3rd ranked behind ImAceKingU2Fold1 and TookiePoker
3. Play 200k hands at 4nl I played 140k/200k. 200,000 hands was an ambitious goal.
I set really tough goals for myself. Although I did not quite make all of them. I am pleased with my efforts.Last edited by Sharking; 01-07-2013 at 07:05 AM.

Updated Bankroll:
Carbon $1032.72
I am going to be playing 10nl now as well as MTTs up to $11. Where i was 14-18 tabling 4nl, I expect to be 8-10 tabling 10nl. I am going to play mostly cash during the week and the $11 and $5.50 tournaments that have 15 minute blinds. On the weekends I will take a break from cash and play mostly tournies, since the guarantees and structures are better (esp on sundays). My first 10nl session was 1000 hands and I lost around 2 buyins. I got set over set, flush over flush, and a tricky spot with AA so I am not too worried about my play so far. I am confident I am ready to move from 4nl to 10nl but the transition may take a little while. Eventually I hope my 10nl winnings will freeroll me into MTTs until i get a big score.
My new goals for 10nl:
1. Learn the 10nl regs/take notes
2. Become break even+
3. Figure out my new ranges, raise sizing, and other strategyLast edited by Sharking; 01-07-2013 at 07:06 AM.

Good job, hope you continue you're success. 8-10 tbling seems hard but I guess you'd slowly getting to that point. Hope you hit a big score in the tournies.

I think everyone must be very carefull in managing the bankroll. After all we play to build bankroll and to get maximum money from poker. One thing to add about bankroll is, how we manage it during our bad beats.
