Will FullTilt be legal for US players again soon?

Somebody told me that the law to make online poker legal in the US is in the amendment stage right now and is well on its way to becoming a reality for US online poker players. I haven't read any articles on this, but do you guys think we US players will be able to play on FullTilt for real money again soon? Maybe before next year?

How come big poker sites like Pokerstars and FT cannot have US players, but Merge can legally have US players? I thought online poker in general is illegal in the US.

I dont think its so much of illegal to play as much as its illegal to fund it..
