UPDATE!!!4/20/11
I finally got Cake working, but it is an older version. Here is a link to the older version (not 2.0) which I got from the support team. I was unable to find this online. If anybody else is having problems with Cake, try this version:
1st Try to download and install using THIS LINK
This will make sure you are properly tagged to PokerOwned.
If that doesn't work try this client version:
http://client.ckpnetwork.com/Downloa...x?AppName=Cake
Make sure to use bonus code: pokerowned
Take care,
gefishy

Hello all,
I have talked about this on the chat on the main page and do not mean to be a bother. Everybody has helped as best they can and I truly appreciate it.
I have to imagine I am not the only person to have this issue, but despite several troubleshooting tactics I have yet to be able to open the Cake poker client. To get you all up to speed on what I have tried so far, I have pasted the following e-mail which I just sent to the Cake Support team @[email protected]:
Hello,
I installed Cake Poker 2.0 via your website. I did this 2 days ago and have since been unable to start the poker client. I have tried the following troubleshooting tactics:
1) Reinstalled .Net Framework 4.0 and 3.5
2) Reinstalled the Windows Service Pack 3
3) Installed all available Windows Updates
4) Re-installed Adobe Flash 10.2
5) Put exceptions in firewalls and anti-virus software for Cake 2.0
6) Shutdown virus blockers and firewalls and attempted to open Cake (still didn't work)
7) Trying all above steps then uninstall and re-install Cake 2.0
Despite attempting all of these steps, I still can't get Cake to work. I try to search for this topic in Google, on your website, and other poker forums and found only 1 similar case but there was no resolution there.
When I try to open Cake, all I get is this (attached picture) in the center of my desktop.
Please help! I want to use your software but will not be able to until this is resolved!
Sincerely,
gefishy

I am posting this thread to hopefully be of help to anybody else experiencing this issue. If you have any more suggestions for troubleshooting other than the ones I have mentioned before please let me know.
I have also tried to find a install for Cake Version 1.0 to try to get that to work and upgrade but have yet to find an installer. If anybody has one, please link to it!
Thanks!

I have since received a response from Hugo at Cake poker and have pasted it here. I use gmail so my response to Hugo's e-mail is above Hugo's response...
It is in regards to the Windows Firewall:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello Hugo,
I am only using the default windows firewall. As I stated in the previous e-mail, an exception was created for Cake Poker. Also I tried disabling the firewall and then opening Cake but had the same problem.
To be specific, the firewall is simply called: Windows Firewall.
Thank you for your help with this.
Sincerely,
gefishy

Another response:
Hugo,
I live in <city, state> (I removed it for privacy reasons... not that I don't trust you all...)
I appreciate your quick responses, and your continued help.

Another response from Cake. It appears there is a problem with all connections coming fromm the midwest U.S. Can anybody from MN (a state he specifically references) or other midwest states confirm this? I want to forward that info on if it is inaccurate.
Thanks,
Gefishy

Hugo,
Once again, I truly appreciate your quick responses, and hope I have not been too much trouble.
I have not been able to even access the service once, so thankfully no hands have been adversely effected. I can't even create an account.
Is there a place where I can check on updates to this issue? Or should I just keep trying?
Thanks,
gefishy

Hello gefishy,
Thank you for your email. Apologies but we appear to be experiencing some widespread routing problems in Mid-west US area which is affecting some players' connectivity to the Poker client. I have had players contact me now also from Minnesota, which would be close in general terms to you. This issue should pass soon.
We hope for this to pass shortly when you will be able to connect without any further problems. If you feel that this adversely affected you in any way at the tables can you please forward us the exact hand number and/or tournament id and we’ll investigate this thoroughly for you. Thanks in advance for your patience.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
Kind Regards,

Final response (for now). I will keep trying to start the client but if it is still not working by tomorrow, I will probably bug him more...
Thanks for your help!

I live in Mississippi but I have been unable to connect to the WAR room of cake while the Blackjack and Poker rooms have been running fine. Looks like they have quite a few kinks to work out.

Casino Games sure is fine to run throught Cake Poker, I don't have Wars stuff since I am not using Cake Poker 2.0, using the old one. Prefer that one during some lag issuer.
PokerStars: ProBlackbird | Betsson: ProBlackbird | Party Poker: UnknownFlush
