I agree with lifesonsrv on this one. Personally, I'd like to recommend PT4 over HM2. I feel the interface is better and friendly for PT4...Also, I've had software for a LONG time and wasn't really getting much out of it.
If you buy any software, make full use of it. There are tons of videos online, even from the company who makes these softwares. Learn as much as you can. As with any set of statistics, they are only as useful as the siill of interpration the statician has.
So, just having these tools wont earn more money. But if you get them and actually take a ton of time to figure out how to best use the info you are given, then there is no reason not to invest in a tracker.
Also, I think buying hand packs is perfectly okay. You are paying money for them, but are foregoing the opportunity cost of collecting hands yourself.

HHsmithy also does it, but I find they dont have good support for merge.
