How confident are you? I would say if youre pretty confident 50-60, if your not too confident then 100. What you can do is if your at 50 to 60 play 5 or so tourneys and if youre not doing well move back down to macro stakes. Just what I would do.

if you want to play tournaments you should have money for 20-30 buy-ins. If you want to play cash game 100 bigblinds should be enough. But dont put everything to your stack on cashgame.

I read some articles that show, more or less, 40 buy-ins (in tournaments). There are authors who speak up 400buy-ins, but I think exaggeration.

i think anything more than $50 is a good time to start playing real money..
I would play SnGs and .02/.04 cash game
