Even though I had some trouble with my account, Zab sent me the gift card the same day that I applied for the redemption, so he definitely redeems them often. It's definitely worth redeeming, but if you do well in the freerolls you can make more money opting in. You just have to weigh whether or not you think you can cash more than 25$ with 9000pts in freerolls or if you'd rather have the money immediately.
