In New York the New York Racing Association (NYRA) and State Lottery, which are controlled by politicians and provide money and jobs to their friends will stall legal online poker as long as they can because they perceive it as a threat to their revenue stream. What they don't get is that online poker players aren't going to bet less on horses because they can now play online poker. They also aren't going to dump less money into retarded slot machines at the state sanctioned fake casinos which only offer negative expectation games. Eventually they will come around - when they get enough bribes.

I agree it seems like a win for them. They can tax the sites who charge a bigger rake.

Politicians are lazy and hate work. Legalizing something is work.
