Stefano Ampollini, an Italian card shark, won more than $120,000 from a French resort in Cannes by using infrared contact lenses to count cards marked with invisible ink. The man has recently been sentenced to two years in prison and owes a huge fine.

Ampollini told a judge that he purchased the high-tech contact lenses online from China and had two corrupt casino employees mark cards with invisible ink. Ampollini's unusual winning streak eventually caught security's attention. He won very easily and even folded two excellent hands, suggesting he knew the dealer's cards, says Marc Concas, a lawyer for the casino.

It's important to note that legal online contact lens purchases in the U.S. require a valid prescription from an eye doctor. This applies to purchases of any contact lenses, even if they are not for vision correction.
