Who's old enough to remember telephone party lines. NO, not the 900 number type party lines.
The kind where you shared a phone line with 3 or 5 other homes. Each home had it's own ring sequence, two long one short etc. Of course you couldn't call out if someone else was talking. Lot of listening in on others phone calls.
Ok, this does make older than dirt.

yeah just a little too old for me, but do remember my moms cordless phone with an antenna that was probably 6 feet long, My brothers and I would act like it was a sword. LOL

had a party line when I was a kid in 1970. if ya picked up phone, and someone was talking, ya were SUPPOSED to hang up! amazing today, with all the eavesdropping the GOVT does today, that ANYONE could do it back then! OH and YES I have gone into a full phone booth, closed the door, dropped a dime in, and made a call!
