Why do some raise every hand?

likely they read the book power poker...if you can call you may as well raise...it makes sense to some degree but it can lead to a big ol trap scenario if played out of context....it will cut the hands you play down normally but when taken out of context it can be a bad idea....lol....I will raise in tourney play with no raise in front if I have a calling hand...keeps em guessing i suppose and can disguise smaller hands and leave you options after the flop you may not have had with flat call...

People try to be aggressive or be fishy. Generally they are trying to steal the pot without having a good hand, so they will be able to play more hands later.

Sometimes, and only sometimes when the feel is right, I do quite a bit of raising. Often when I'm playing this way at least one person will get mad at the table and say that I'm raising every hand. But I'm not. Though I am raising quite a bit more often than other times that I play. I usually do it when the table in general is loose/passive.

When you've got the stack, raising every hand can be a great strategy to induce calls...especially when those big hands come around

got to agree...very frustrating dealing with this type of play....try raising back at them...put them to the test...instead of playing thier game
