There are tons of old sayings or dumb superstions people live by as a general rule for them in poker, one of mine is ....

" If you win the first pot you wont win the last pot "

I got called out on this tonight in tournament i played at casino first hand i was dealt I just mucked em didnt even look at em, which I do every tournament I play live just a habit and I dont even remember where i first heard that...

What are some things yall do like this? (playing any two suited cards does not count)

Wow, u could be picking up Aces on that first hand. For me though, I don't really have superstitions. I do know that there are those that will order the same thing constantly if they keep winning, or like Sammy Farha, if he loses a pot, he gets a new cigarette.

i am NOT superstitious or religious at all, so NOTHING applies in my life... karma, none of that. I do not believe that we live in a / the twilight zone. no such thing as luck, hot streaks, none of that. Only real thing is numbers, sometimes numbers repeat repeatedly, its of no mysterious value though. Statistical anomalies and improbabilities just happen, they just do... they have to, or they wouldn't be numbers.

I never looked at it that way. But I can recall a few occasions when playing live that I won first had and then busted out. Will pay more attention to that one. May have something there.

muckin the first one gives me the mindset of patience and not an over eagerness to put chips in the middle, tournaments are a marathon not a sprint slow and steady wins....

I recall an interview with some pro poker player that said he plays his best games when all the lights are green for him on his way to the tourney. It gives him the feeling everything is going his way.

one superstition I ALWAYS follow..I wear pants LIVE, and do not ONLINE. I mixed this up once, due to medication problems, and did not get to even SEE a hand @ the casino!
