I love poker but i'm not a fan of gambling, I always get bored out of my mind if I'm doing like slots or blackjack. The skill and strategy are what I love about the game but I agree it's still gambling.

Poker is gambling as much as investing in the stock market is gambling. Whenever you are risking money for the sake of a potential greater but not certain reward you are gambling. But why does society look down on poker players but looks up to stock market investors? It's just has to do with stereotypes and perceptions. If you enjoy playing poker and you are not risking more than you can afford to lose than who is anyone to tell you what you are doing is wrong?

Anything that you have to put up something of value in hopes of a bigger return is gambling.

Seems to me the question you are asking is more about is it morally wrong as a christian to play poker. If you are a true christian then you shouldn't worry about what other people say , cause you'll be steered wrong most of the time. If you aren't losing money you can't afford and getting yourself in trouble financially, then there is nothing morally wrong playing poker and being a christian for me, you have to answer that question for yourself, and only you can. There 's lots of "christians" out there that love to tell you how sinful you are and how much better your life will be if you listen to them ( and send them a check ) only to find they live more sinful lives then you. My pt is, as a christian, you need to live your life the way that you feel is right, not the way "they" tell you too. That's my opinion anyway, so imo, it doesn't matter whether poker is gambling or not, maybe my memory is wrong , but i don't remember any commandment saying "thou shalt not gamble", lol.
