PO Rule Proposal - Eliminating Debt

I haven't been here long enough to see the problem on the long term, and for the short term I've been lucky that everyone I've dealt with in trades has been honest and solid so far.
I think banning things like chat, client, etc, only work if it's a value to the user in the first place and even things like a wall of shame aren't very effective if the user has no real pride for their reputation.

I do think Zab might be on to something with the tax idea, although I wouldn't do it with the client because again, it only matters if the user uses it. Rather I would take the same approach the taxman takes on defaults and garnish 50% of all points earned from said user with a 10% additional fee going back to PO for the hassle until everything is payed off.

Earning points is the one thing every user wants and has to do on here to get anywhere, therefore when attempting to punish, it's the most effective place to crack the whip.

The decision to put a user in default like that is a tough one for a person to always make, so what I would recommend is including a payback date in all trades that the borrowing user understand will trigger this automatically.

Those serious about being productive with their poker earnings on here should find that a date to take serious if they want to continue to do so.

Point of fact. While you are walking around justifying why should not have to make an effort to repay a loan ON TIME, the person you are now in default to is having to resort to taking out loans to continue playing. YOU will of course make some snide comment to this, which will only make you look like more of an ASS.

yea, sorry sickread. keep in mind that being a good poker player doesnt make you a good member round here (most members r scrubs at poker) PO is more about community less about poker (sadly)

Of course neither his poker ability, nor the community are the issue here, rather it is wanton disrespect for a member whom was kind enough to give him loan.

I am curious to know why a person can't be a good player AND be a member of a "community"? Others manage to do so rather effectively......

I have to say that I agree with the escalating level of punishment TON suggested. I don't think we need to be punishing the people that have been here for awhile and have defaulted one or two times. I am glad that the people ITT seem to realize there is a difference between occasionally being late with a loan, and habitually being late. Sadly this isn't always the case, and if someone sees that I was in default for twelve hours, they think that I am now a dirt bag. I also like the idea of the loaner being in charge of the punishment. For example if TON loans me 4k and I have been in constant contact with him about why I am late, and how I am working on getting it paid, he can show mercy and let me keep my privileges. But if i go dark for a couple days and made no effort to let him know whats going on, boom he takes away my chat, market, etc. Too often do a few bad apples ruin it for the rest of us, so we need to find away of effectively punishing the guilty, while being able to show mercy on the innocent.
