Kicking It Up A Notch

It’s the beginning of a new month, so it’s time for a new goal. Last month my goal was to win $3k. This month will be the same. Mid-November I was well on my way to achieving the goal, and then I had a very good day when I won a MTT along with a few SNGs. And then I bought Black Ops… The combination of the two caused me to lose motivation and I played very little poker the rest of the month.

December will be different. Here’s a breakdown of my goal.
-Win $3k by playing mainly SNGs with a few MTTs and cash games mixed in.

-Work through my reading list

* Harrington on Online Cash Games
* The Poker Blueprint
* The Poker Mindset
* Moshman's SNG book

When I finish each I may include a brief review if people are interested.

-Post more on the forums to help keep others motivated for their goals

I’ll post daily stats and weekly graphs along the way. Maybe some interesting hands as they come along.

I’ve noticed in others’ goal threads some people give their poker history, so here is mine. Feel free to skip if you want. I started playing online when I was 16. I won $5 from a freeroll and worked it up to a few thousand. In high school, I spent study hall reading poker books rather than doing homework. I wasn’t making tons of money, but it was enough to keep me from having to get a McJob. I should have been working on building a bankroll but instead spent it on things I really didn’t need. In college I played online as well, but I wasn’t as excited about poker as when I first got into it. My biggest regret from college isn’t studying more or getting better grades but is not playing more poker. I’ve put in a lot of time studying NLHE tourneys and would consider myself an “SNG specialist.” My ROI is 18% and greater than 20% if you don’t include turbos. Currently, I’m studying to move to NL cash games, and my overall goal is to be making enough to travel and play poker wherever I want.

Today I put in a few games and came out ahead $96.20.
