I played back in 2007 in one of the $1500 events, but did not cash. If I had cashed the plan was to parlay that into a main event buy-in. The cash games @ the Rio in the amazon room get crazy even if you don't plan to enter an event. I saw 2 guys sitting at a $5/$10 limit hold-em table with over 50k each on the table! No-one else had more then $300-$400, I was told they had been sitting there 3 days. Serious poker marathons.

I would like to try to win a online satellite tourney for the main event if there was any. The other way would be to win the lottery and buyin to play. Playing in the WSOP main event is on my bucket list and hope to one day to play it.

I would try all three. Start by trying to win a seat online and then find a sponsor.
Better yet I would try and win on buy in online.

I won't be going this year, but maybe sometime (I need way more experience, especially in live play) Two tourneys I totally qualify for are on my radar...the Seniors and the Ladies, both for a 1k buyin.
