I'm back!
It's been a long time since I posted. My wife and I enjoyed a nice 2 week road trip so I decided to take a month off from poker. We drove through the south and had a really great time. Furthermore, it was nice to take a little break from the grind and spend some time doing other things. But I am back now. I am ready and focused to finish the year out strong. I was disappointed that I didn't play in the Philly poker open main event but it was a profitable series with my second place finish in the PLO event. I am going to try to implement some more tourneys into my schedule and really work on my cash game skills in order to make these last four months the best that I can both live and online.
I did make it to the casino once in August for a session of 6-12 oe. I was patient and stuck to my rules and it paid off. I wound up winning $100 on the nose. I was down at the very start but kept my head up and grinded out a decent profit. It was a one session month which sucks but it was a profitable month and since I haven't had a ton of those, I will have to take what I can get. Lol. I feel good about September. I feel like things are going to turn around and start going my way. I want the last four months to be my most profitable yet and I think they could be. Good luck and see you on the felt.

Back in action
It was my first day of poker in September and I decided to play a survivor tournament. It was $75 and winners would get $500 if they cashed (1 in 9). I chipped up nicely through the first three levels but then the blinds got bigger and the play got more aggressive. With a 13 big blind stack I decided to resteal against an aggro opener with 44. He opened the cutoff I shoved on the button. The big blind thought for ten seconds and called the opener folded. The big blind showed 66 and he won. I love my play there. I can't fathom how he calls there. My image was great, he was flat calling a cold 3 bet, if he lost he would have been devastated. O well. My play was good. The result was bad.
In other news, I played some online sessions. Nothing too good or too bad. I made a couple final tables but no big cashes. I played some cash sessions as well. Also nothing to write home about. I'm still very optimistic about the month but I am worried my volume will be low because I have many obligations this month. But I am committed to making time for poker this month. It will be a great month I just know it. Until next time, good luck and see you on the felt.

a good end to the month
Just played another session of 6-12 oe and it was a good one. I wound up winning $315 and I feel as though my play was solid. It started off shaky when I found myself down roughly $75 but I was able to right the ship. Nothing really too remarkable about the session. I scooped a huge pot in stud 8 when I made the wheel on fifth against two really good players. They were both going high when I hit perfect and I was able to get a couple 3 bets in. I love it when a plan comes together.
The only down side this month has been my volume. I played live twice and online only once. It's not for lack of want entirely, it's been lack of time. School is in session now and there is less time to play. Between teaching, coaching, and tutoring, I lack the time and energy needed to put in volume. October is just as packed but I am optimistic I will get more adjusted to my schedule and become more committed to puting in the volume. It's good that I have been able to put a couple of positive months in a row together but I think I can be better. It's a numbers game and I need more numbers lol. Hopefully I will have more posts and more sessions and more success. Until then, good luck and see you on the felt.

Fell a little behind so here are two posts for the last two weeks
Bad start to October
Just finished an 6-12 oe session and it stunk lol I was on a just move waiting to get into the main game and in the course of two hours, I went busto and lost my $260 stake. What really grinds my gears is that it was a short handed must move and I hate short handed play. It's not my type or pace of game. I really have a hard time adjusting and playing in that type of dynamic. I was worried if I sat out, I would not be allowed to go to the must move when the seat opened up. I will definitely ask the floor when that situation comes up again. As for my play, it obviously wasn't great but I wouldn't say I was too loose or too passive. I didn't miss bets or call to light. There were a lot of bricks, some poor calls, and some poor bets. I just believe they were magnified because short handed you are forced to play more pots than you usually do. But this another lesson learned. I will move forward and get better. Ever loss is a lesson learned and a step in the right direction from a long term perspective. Until next time, good luck and see you on the felt.

Nice bounce back
Played another session of 6-12 oe and it went much better than the last. Wound up winning $207. I played well but honestly the cards really went my way. Hit a big card in two different hands and they were big parts of my success. Also, I made a nice bluff in stud with a pair of deuces and scooped a nice pot. I felt pretty focused and did not deviate from tag strategy. It was great that the game was completely full so I did not have to worry about short handed play. I will continue to avoid short handed play at all costs but definitely study that aspect just in case a juicy game presents itself. I always feel that it is preparation that separates the successful from the unsuccessful. John Wooden once said, "When you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail." I think poker players can learn a lot from that quote. All too often, we go to a table thinking we are the best and that the money will just flow our way. But that isn't the case. If it was, it would be a game of pure luck. So my final thought of the post is this: what have you done today to prepare yourself to be the best person at your next table? Answer honestly and that will give you tremendous perspective into your growth as a player. Until next time, good luck and see you on the felt.
