You have to have an exit strategy. Whether it's a loss limit or an acceptable profit mark or a time limit, you have to have some measure that means escape. I know the old adage of playing while the game is good but that doesn't work for me. I always think the game is good lol. Figure out a way to leave when you are ahead or not too far behind.

First step back
I just played a nice session of 6-12 oe. I played tight and aggressive and wound up winning $132. It feels good to get back on the right track and make up for that abismal performance earlier in the week. I am really working on playing my a-game hand after hand. It is tough but if I just follow my plan I know I can turn the year around. I'm. To going to look ahead anymore. I am just going to focus on the task at hand. All I'm thinking about now, is winning my next session and making it two in a row. Until next time, good luck and see you on the felt.

Now a step back lol
Bad session of oe the other day. What sucks about the session I was up $200 in the first hour. Usually I walk away with such a big win but I wanted to play two hours and then reevaluate. I always give it two hours then determine my exit strategy for the session. By the time my two hours were up, I was down $50. Then I played several more hours and wound up losing $300 for the session. To quote Charlie Brown, "good grief." Lol it sucks because I always advocate to people and to myself to "book wins." I got a little greedy and lost out on a nice junk. I think the lesson learned is to remove the two hour evaluation period. I will start the sessions as if I have already been there for the two hours. This will ensure I have greater flexibility at the table and increased profitability. Adjustments are important. You cannot remain rigs in your approach to things. I see that my previous thinking was flawed so I am changing it. Looking back in my stats, some of my biggest losses came during a session where I was initially up. Hopefully this change will help me get back on the right track and turn the year around. On a side note, I am taking a break from cash games for the next two weeks to focus on the Philly Poker Open. I will be playing several tournaments and I have a good feeling. My schedule is as follows:
Saturday: $200 nlhe 40k guaranteed (day 2 Sunday)
Saturday: $225 nlhe survivor bounty ($1000)
Wednesday: $100 PLO
Wednesday: $75 nlhe survivor ($500)
Next Saturday: $250 nlhe 50k guaranteed (day 2 Sunday)
Total buyins: $850
Total profit:????
Excited about playing some tourneys. It's been awhile since I played real important tournament poker but I feel good. Only time will tell. In my next posts, I will break down each tourney and the result. Until next time, good luck and see you on the felt.

Nice night online
I usually don't post about my online play because I usually fluctuate between $1-$4 but Wednesday night was pretty good. I played my second night of online tourneys. In the previous week, I final tabled the $.11 $100 guarantee and won $5. So my expectations were high relative to the stakes I am playing. However, I went far beyond my expectations. I played 7 tourneys and 1 freeroll and cashed in four of them with three final tables including a 2nd place finish in the 1$ PLO and a 5th in the $1 rebuy. All told, I profited about $65 on the night and tripled my bankroll. I am now at $97.25, just $2.75 short of my goal for the year. In between my love tourneys, I am going to grind a lot online. With a good run, I might even be over $200 online by the end of the year. Furthermore, this success even at the micro level, gives me some confidence heading into the Philly Poker Open. Obviously the competition will be a little bit tougher but I know I can make the adjustments needed to succeed. Maybe I will have a similar run in me for these live events as I did online. Who knows? Until next time, good luck and see you on the felt.

0-1
Well my first tourney is in the books and it was a stinker lol I couldn't get any momentum. I had a couple pocket pairs that missed the flop and had to fold. When I was the aggressor I was called down or raised and had the pot taken from me. Just super annoying poker lol. The only hand that I think I played wrong was my last. I'm in the big blind with ace 8 suited on a 10 big blind stack. My plan was to restealing a late position raise or go and go a mid position raise. (Call preflop and shove any flop) Well, a middle position player raised and then 3 players called. Crap, this changed my original plan. I could fold shove or call. Folding is the safe play and probably the best. But after this blind and the small blind pass me, my fold equity diminishes greatly. I could shove but my hand has poor flopping value and I am sure to get called by at least one opponent who could have me severely crushed. What about calling then shoving any flop that gives me a draw or pair? My hand doesn't produce many good drawing opportunities but I'm in a bad spot anyway. So I call. Flop is k 5 7 one spade. My plan check fold here. So I check and it gets checked around. The turn brings the second spade and a gut shot straight. No one liked this board on the flop so I think I have a shot to win this pot. I shove. I get called by the mid position raiser. He shows 3 4 of spades for a pair and a flush draw. I need an ace 8 or spade to triple up and I brick. I'm still not sure if my play was awful, bad, slightly -ev, or ok. Obviously it wasn't great. Lol on a side note I didn't play the 6pm bounty survivor. It was my friends birthday and he lives about 2 hours away so since I don't see him often, I decided to pass on that tourney and celebrate with him. I really wanted to play that tourney more than any other but he is my friend and friendship will always trump poker in my life. Hopefully, I will get some good karma points for my upcoming tourneys. The next crack will be PLO and then the survivor. Wednesday can be a big day for me and I feel confident that it will be. Until next time, good luck and see you on the felt.

1-2
Well tournament number 2 was much better than tournament 1. I wound up finishing second in the Philly Poker Open PLO event. The only downside is that there were only 25 entrants and 2nd only paid $582 ($100 buyin). I know I can't be pessimistic about it. My year has been pretty bad so any profit/deep run is good. I played really well and think it was my best effort. The only hand that was out of my standard play was this following hand. I was chip leader with four left and paying three. The smallest stack was 4 big blinds the second smallest was 9 big blinds, the second biggest stack was 17 big blinds, and I had 20 big blinds. Family pot all limped in. Flop 8 6 j two clubs. It gets checked around. The small blind (3rd place guy) leads out of the small blind for a third of the pot when a 3rd club comes out. Other two players fold and I am on the button. I have only the ace of clubs and I am 90% sure he has the flush. I think this is a perfect spot to pot him all in because he would not want to go out on the bubble. Furthermore, he has folded to me twice and remarked how tight I play. Weighing all these factors I pot he calls with his flush and I lose that pot. I wonder if I was wrong to put the pressure on. What sucks is that he would eventually beat me heads up. I was down 3-1 but pulled it to 2-1 after some really aggressive play. Eventually we got it all in preflop where my hand aqqj suited ace lost to his aqqj suited ace. Overall I am happy and feeling confident going in to the last tournament this weekend (my PLO run made it impossible to play in the $75 survivor). It is the main event and has the biggest prize pool. If there was ever a time to make a deep run now is the time. Hopefully my next post will be filled with elation and $$$$. Lol until next time, good luck and see you on the felt.
