There was a question just like this on another thread. And besides, lots of differences. If you want slow social poker, go with live, if not, it's online.

Online poker is just way faster pace, people play multiple tables at the same time and go through hands faster than live. Basically, it ends up with the online players having more patience to wait for their golden hand...since they get more opportunities and are at different tables. Not for every player of course...but still.
