Nope, usually the previous champ is one, but not always.

Mods usually try to put the last champ as one and just randomly pick the second. Sometimes members ask in chat to become a bounty.

Not really. Some players volunteer to be the bounty.

if someone is volunteering to be a bounty, they are pretty much putting out a license to be knocked out of the tourney early! lol

and no sunburnt if u survive being a bounty u get 200 points back so it does make some sense to ask to be named as a bounty

It causes people to tryharder to eliminate you. Sometimes it helps brcause they call with stupid hands although people do that anyways.
