Help me remember this game

I forget which platform it was on, playstation i think, but it was one where you pick and choose decisions in a game that altered future events. As you progressed your charracter gets a light or dark storyline....circa early 2000s. Anyone know? Its been bugging the hell out of me but i jjust have to know and play the damn thing

i think dimebags is right....the only game with this ideea is final fantasy from 1 to 7 i think maybe its ff5 or ff6

it was certaily an rpg game but i remember seeing the commercial for it ended with an anime looking hero guy jump slashing the grass at a 225 degree angle toward the camera and played the title out. wasnt ff was something else, even yahoo answers doesnt seem to help tho hahah!
