He's not breaking the record, for these reasons:
- As soon as the pressure starts to build, he'll start pressing. The guy with the current All-Star break record, Reggie Jackson (he had 37), said all he thought about the second half was hitting home runs.
- We're assuming he'll be injury free; he needs every at-bat just to get close. And speaking of at-bats...
- He hits 5th in the lineup, not cleanup. Fangraphs states that hitting 5th averages about 30-32 less ABs a season than 4th. 32 ABs could be the difference between 59 and 62.
I'd bet he finishes with 53-54, and becomes one of the few players to win an MVP without being on a playoff team.

He wont get suspended for steroids but he will have a tough time getting any records I believe
