I like idea #1. Its similar to donkey betting but i look at donkey betting being like buying a cheap scratch card with small prizes, While this would be like buying a more expensive scratch card with much higher prizes.

My only fear about it is that as a progresive prizepool it might not grow that much as it more that likely will be won every freeroll. My only idea to solve this is to limit the number of bets allowed each tourney to 30-40 so there is a chance that the jackpot can go inclaimed for a few tournies so it rises to a high amount

Yeah I think Prawney just nailed the biggest flaw in this idea right there. If every player can be bought then someone would win nearly every game. Would have to think of a way to limit the number of donkeys in the race. What if the 9 players from the final table from last tourney are the horses in the next tourney and everyone can bid on them, the more money that's put on someone, the lower they're payout odds just like derby races. Final table might be too slim though, maybe top 20 finishers would work better to ensure a bunch will move on to the next game.
