Play free roll like a free roll and cash game like a cash game
I don't see much difference in play between a FR and a low-buy-in tourney ($5 or less). When you get into $10-$50 buy-in tourneys, you will face tougher opponents, and will have to make difficult decisions due to higher frequency of bluffing (as a previous poster stated). Pay very close attention to the board and the play as it develops to try to get a sense of whether or not you are ahead. I can multitask during a FR or low-cost tourney, but if I invest more than $10, I focus on the game almost exclusively.
The longer you play, the easier it is to find your style. Normal mtts that have 15 min levels are played way differently than turbo ones. If it's a turbo, be prepared to see lots of all ins.
I'm trying different ways of playing but lately It seems i can be 90% until the river . and when I do raise pre flop with a premium hand I get called by someone with 2 4 off and get owned lol ....
i find it harder to adjust when you play a tournament then play cash. i you crush sng your going to crush cash games. either way, any way of playing helps you in your game.
its a completely different approach, with actually money vs possible free money. you gotta control yourself and dont push it as much
a big diff i've noticed is when i started playing $5+ tournies less ppl get into the pot preflop and u can min raise pre a ton w/o the fear of everyone calling u each time
they way you should play changes along with the smallest variable
