Nice hand, hard to get paid off for it, but definitely nice when you do. I've been paid off for a royal, with several people going to showdown, but that is a rarity.

A friend of mine won the BBJ this year at Canterbury Park for over $150k he had the bottom end of a straight flush and his opponent had the top. never happier to lose his stack in his life!

My feeling is if I get a royal which I have had 6 of them in my lifetime then I check it down because to me it is better to show the royal at the end then to bet and chase someone off. Especially when they could potentially try to steal on the turn or river.
