So the blinds were 200/400 with 40 ante, I had 5600 chips to start and I got AQo early position. Two players fold, and then I raise 800, two more fold and then one guy calls, everyone else folds. Flop comes Q 8 6 rainbow, I bet 2560, he shoves, I call, he has 9 7, turn comes another 6 and on the river he hits a straight with a 10.
What do you guys think, I feel like I could have shoved preflop and won the pot, but didn't want to flip for it against a small pair.

If you knew there was a clown like him at your table who would call to see a flop too light tho, there is nothing wrong with folding AQo in ep, given that losing one small pot even gives up most of your fold equity in the future. For you, it might be different because I revolve on a game of thievery a bit excessively when really shallow stacked like that and you clearly are playing a little bit out of that realm, but just cause AQo is pretty doesn't mean you have to play it.
If you do tho, I'd shove/fold. You can't really fold to a 3bet anyways, so might as well maximize your fold equity.
Depends how many tourneys he/she was playing.

You got the player to put all his money in as a big dog. You played the hand correctly, you cant be so results focused and just be happy with your play.
never min raise with so few BBs with a hand like that, especially oop. shove or fold. I'd be happy shoving and picking up blinds and antes there.
I agree with most people on here, I think you definitely should have shoved or folded............

I disagree. Not only do I disagree, but I would go as far as call your post idiotic. You are speaking without knowledge of the payout structure, how many people are left, when the bubble was/is, the edge prayingforspades has or doesn't have against the table, the ranges praying's opponents will call with, how much the blinds have been folding to steals, what praying's table image is, how likely praying would be to be able to steal in the nearby future if he does steal now, versus if he doesn't, when will the blinds next go up, etc.Quote:

Idk i guess this is just my opinion however i feel i need a little more information than simply the scenario you typed out above, mainly has this been a loose agressive table or have your table mates been playing more on the tight/nitty side? If it is a loose agressive table then definitely open shoving for your whole stack pre is the way to go because when you raised to 800 if it is a looser table then you are going to get alot of hands like 9 7 to call you pre which is exactly what happened to you. However now if it has been playing as a tighter/nitty table then opening preflop to like 1105 or 1125 is totally fine here and that way if someone shoves over the top of you (meaning they wake up with a big hand if the table has been playing tight) you can fold and still be left with 10 or 11 big blinds. However in my opinion the worst choice you could have made as to how to play this hand preflop is what you infact did which was minraise in early position with 14 big blinds. Opening up with simply a minraise in early position entices many people to call in mid to late position with suited connectors and suited one gappers and makes the hand become alot more confusing than you need it to me with most flops. I hope what i said makes some sense and it helps you in some way, like i said this is only my opinion which i have learned from experience playing over time.
