Just want to see some other players thoughts and personal opinion and what they do in tourneys and where and when they start being aggressive. I can make it deep in a tourney but a lot of the time I find myself folding in tight spots to the aggressor and chips start to dwindle. should I become more loose and call with second pairs with X, Obviously it is different when you are playing but just want to hear experience and thoughts on it. Thanks guys.

Assuming the stacks are deep enough for some maneuvering, I would recommend re-popping a raise with 2nd pair in position, on occasion. Instead of just calling and maybe risking even more through the next couple of betting rounds, find out where you are in the hand then, and quite possibly take it down then.
I also recommend punishing those players who limp every single hand with liberal aggression from late positions.
during bubble time is a good time to steal some blinds but not with an allin push cause if u get called ur most likely beat..

when the antes kick in during the middle stages of the tournament its worth wild to steal blinds, and open up a little for me.. before than its kinda useless for me.
Im starting to be agresive when blinds comes to 50/100
Once you start getting below 30bbs and still a long ways to go, you should get more aggressive. Make more raises, 3 bets preflop. You dont want to get short and just try to pick up big hands or win flips aipf.
I'm usually aggressive though out, with the mentallity go big or go home. That said, I usually go home lol.

If you're gonna steal the pot preflop, just make sure that either you can lay down the hand if it is played back, or you got some post flop skills.
yea the bubble is always a great spot to steal some blinds!
only be super aggressive when you know you have the nuts after the flop... that or you're working your luck or the bluff
Well I like to play aggressive in the beginning to get a good chip stack, and play very, very tight poker and I don't call anything out of position.
Start of tournament:
Ill narrate this part of the tournament as blinds 5/10 thru 40/80
General rule of thumb is to see lots of really cheap flops hoping to hit big. Don't go broke with 1 pair. This is not the time to be raising and reraising. A lot of times I will open limp with QQ and KK just to get someone to stack off later.
early-middle
This area includes 50/100 to 125/250 levels
the 50/100, 75/150 and 100/200 levels especially, you really want to play tighter as in most tournaments its to much of your stack (unless you have accumulated a lot of chips earlier) to be seeing lots of flops. You should be raising most pots that you enter, unless someone in front of you has limped in and you have something speculative, 89ss or something to that effect. the 125/250 level is where the middle of the tournament is starting and you want to be raising a bit more if you have enough chips to do so. this is the point to where I will begin 3betting light in position if I have the chips to profitably do so.
Middle stages - 150/300 through 300/600
The early middle is the most important part of the tournament, If you set yourself up in those stages so that you can play optimally in this stage, you can really run over a tournament. This is the part of the tournament where you can really chip up if you have the ammo to do so. This is where you should be 3betting in position and occasionally 3b shoving a LP raiser. The tighter the chipstacks get, the less you can do
Middle late 400/800-1000/2000
These stages you are looking to pick off the blind stealers as those steals get more and more valuable. At this point you will see the average chipstack be around the 17-22bb range. If you have the ammo, take control.
late stages 1500/3000 and up
at this point, a lot of times you will see people waiting for hands, this is where you can really chip up by stealing lots of pots, by the time they realize what your doing, you've already done your damage.
once I get deeper into tournaments, this is my guidelines
15bb and under, open shove in position with wide ranges and tight ranges.
15-20bbs play very tight range and reshove against openers
20-30bbs steal blinds with 77+ 89s+ A9s+ ATo+
30-40bbs resteal in position planning to bet the flop and drive opponent out
40bb+ raise lots of hands to force players into tough decisions
To make this work correctly, you have to be good at reading hands and most of all not get caught up in what you have only. What your opponent has is far more important.

I always start out aggressive to build my chip stack up then I play very tight and usually end up pretty good
I've been told I play too many hands in the beginning therefore it leaves me sometimes short stack 1/2 in and can't play some hands I really want to play. What's your thought's?
I can usually read other hand's but then sometimes they fool you!
I usually start out being as aggressive as the table will let me be. I like to build my stack early if the cards will let me. If I get to aggressive and things start turning bad then I back off for a while and just watch the cards and the players. Sometimes it's hard to get to aggressive if you keep getting bounced around from one table to the other.
early 3 bet at begin levels to check players is good on good cards .. possible to 90 chip bet a pot to 600 n take it for 90-120 chip bet ..if u got hands value bet ..exp if there's a flush draw or straight draw use consistent bets do go nuts .. in a lot of cases if there's a draw n don't come a a final bet of value not to big n case they have a pair at min may get u the pot ...one you get chipped up and in a decent position in mtt for me its around a in the money position no matter if its early in or late n play min hands to hold it .. use good judement
when to call all in 's
if your early in mtt and an opportunity shows itself that would take you straight to in the money like 2 all in and best in your hand is kq u might consider the call ..exp if in a rebuy/rentry .. this is a position play
if u hit then the above idea now u have chips but always value bet a bluff .. u have a better chance to get it n same if u have hand value bet ..most bluffer will take u all in w a large bluff n this is why u value bet it both ways ..
once in pos hold it don't make big calls or bets .. ride the blinds
2 things to accomplis is get n position and ride the blinds .. get a few hands here n there donts chase big bets you should go far in it

just last night i was n 100 gtd ko n early in had 9k held it a bit then got donked to 3k held it a very long timethen to 11k n again rode the blinds till i caught 20k .. it was still a good min before final table i made final table i was the lowest chipstack the next smallestwas twice mine i had like 12k or so vrs avrg stack 50k+ blinded to 8k ... i took 2nd place in it among players with 10 times my stack

at the start of the tournament i play tight- only big hands, only call raise when i have the nuts or second nuts, later as blinds increase i play more aggressive if i have a big stack or if i am short stacked and the blinds are rather large it is a push, fold mentality. When close to the bubble if i have chips i will be very aggressive with marginal hands as smaller stacks tend to tighten up.
Yea I think the way to go is tight aggressive!! Stealing blinds when the blinds get big is key!
Personally i like to start out by playing a lot of hands and really trying to establish myself early. With the blinds so low in many tournaments it is easy to play lower valued hands without costing too much to your chip stack. Maybe you hit something big in a hand you might not necessarily have been in with bigger limits. Control that table!
you want to be aggressive throughout. more aggressive post flop when blinds are low then raise your aggression preflop when the blinds are bigger and the antes kick in. also be super aggro close to the bubble
I don't like playing too many hands early. Not much value. Late-middle is when I try to turn it on. Each tourny is different though, if I am getting good hands and the table is weak I'll be tight whenever.
There really is no set time in a tournament where you should start to be aggresive. That obviously has alot to do with the table dynamic and how the other players at your table are playing. But id say generally once you start to get within like 30 people to the money you should be starting to take advantage of the fact that the money bubble is approaching and going to break and be trying to build up a stack and take advantage of the players out there who are playing the tournament and just trying to cash in it and not playing overall for the win.
