tracking software

I think strong arguments can be made for both sides of the coin, but at the end of the day, poker is supposed to be a game played with the mind. With that said, I admit... that I do use tracking software (PT4) at sites where it's allowed. But with my only goal being to simply win as much money as possible, it would be foolish to not use it, considering every serious player I find myself playing against more than likely is using it as well.

Certain types of software, to me, kinda goes too far though. The programs that have hand histories already supplied right out of the box, and that give you info on players that you've never even seen before?? Come on now... :rolleyes:

I agree with lifesonsrv on this one. Personally, I'd like to recommend PT4 over HM2. I feel the interface is better and friendly for PT4...Also, I've had software for a LONG time and wasn't really getting much out of it.

If you buy any software, make full use of it. There are tons of videos online, even from the company who makes these softwares. Learn as much as you can. As with any set of statistics, they are only as useful as the siill of interpration the statician has.

So, just having these tools wont earn more money. But if you get them and actually take a ton of time to figure out how to best use the info you are given, then there is no reason not to invest in a tracker.

Also, I think buying hand packs is perfectly okay. You are paying money for them, but are foregoing the opportunity cost of collecting hands yourself.

HHsmithy also does it, but I find they dont have good support for merge.

So, Anybody using any freeware/shareware HUDs? I tried to install fdpd but i can't seem to get it to install. I Used poker wingman b4 bf and loved it. didn't stop me from being a donk, but made me think twice about it. that said, I make as many final tables without a HUD as I do with... just like the security blanket, i guess

Im old school and dont need no tracking software. i do it with a pen and paper.

I had gone through the trial of both PT4 and HM2. I find HM2 more preferred though. PokerOffice and MagicHoldem too are worthy..

ZMITAL... ever wonder why you don't have anything in your "money won" category on your PokerOwned profile?

I think anything that gives live advise like Magic Holdem or similar programs should be banned but at the same time anybody following the advice from programs like that are never gonna beat anything but full ring or 6max 2nl ring games. PT and HEM are pretty much necessary to beat most stakes these day though.

Anyone know a lightweight HUD? HM2 and PT4 are using postgresql and my system is very old one and less RAM. So I cannot play more than one table using hm2..

HM1 is a lot lighter than HM2 but its harder to get hold of these days. PT3 is pretty light too.

using programs that track other players is cheating. If you need to cheat to win in poker then you are not a good poker player! You can't go to a casino and pull up peoples playing information. Once again, if you use tracking software you are a cheater and a bad player!
