What kind of bankroll should I start with before I start to play micro MTT?
100 buy ins is kind of a rule of thumb. $1.10 buyins = $100 roll. It is possible to use bankroll management with $200 or $300 by playing $3.30, $2.20 and $1.10 games. And taking the occasional shots at $5.50 and much rarer shots at $11
Ya man. I always recommend being more willing to gamble with a smaller bankroll and protecting it as it gets bigger. For instance if you have $20-$50 dollars, instead of trying not to go broke try and play some $5.50s and $11s in order to bink a roll. And then once you bink the roll protect it by following the 100 buy in rule. More often than not you will lose the 20-50 dollars but you can always play freerolls for a few weeks to get that back.
I'm going to try and get my BR up to around $40-$50 within a week or so. I plan on playing just freerolls to do this. Once I do that, I'll try some MTT.
I currently have a little less than $12.
Yeah that is some good advice. I really have played with bad BRM, but recently I told myself that I would take some shots off of PO FR's; but once I got over $100 I would start playing more conservatively. I am now over $300, and I hope to build to over $1000 by the end of January.
Thanks for the info.
Anybody else have any info I can use?
Up to over $16 on my BR. Plan on playing a lot more in the next few weeks.
A little under $18 now. Next week I plan on at least doubling it, if not tripling it.
dont ask me... i dont know a thing about BR management hahahah FML
Over $27 now.
Follow sharkings advice, if you plan on sticking to only MTT's then his advice is solid. If you plan on adding a variety to your game and play cash games also then I urge you to reconsider what kind of poker player you want to be. MTT's and cash are much different and require different strategies and buy-ins.
To add on to that last post...I just got home from work and it's really late so I'm not going to elaborate right now. If I see this or remember about this post when I wake up I'll respond with a novel and some "good" advice for you. Hopefully you see this before I wake up and can give me a better indication of what kind of poker player you intend to be, I prefer to type the novel where it will be most useful.
Good luck on the felt

BR a little under $30 now. Slowly building it up.
In my honest opinion, and don't take this the wrong way, you won't be able to win in MTT's and Cash games at the same time in the beginning. If I were you I'd play a minimum of 10k hands in cash games until you feel you can win them. Play at the micro level and 2-4 table if you can. ONLY multitable if you're comfortable with making quicker decisions. The use of a HUD is vital to multitabling.
As far as MTT's are concerned, I again will agree with Sharking that you shouldn't invest more then 1% of your roll into a game. This is especially true if you plan to play ring games also.
To give you a little background on me and how I play, I prefer cash. I'm a big PLO player on merge but that doesn't mean I don't also play the occasional MTT. I play the MTT's for fun, a small portion of my roll, and anticipate not running deep. I'm not a seasoned veteran in MTT's. I have a sold skill set but not what it takes to be a winning MTT player in the long run. It takes dedication to be able to win in the long term. I would advise you to see what you'll enjoy more and devote time to it and learn the game to your best ability. Don't rush into investing your roll on two aspects of the game without educating yourself first. MTT and cash games need to be approached differently in order to win.
Good luck on the felt.
Got up to about 60 bucks yesterday of freerolls and 1v1s then lost it all playing tourneys lmao
Bankroll up over $36 now. Slow and steady wins the game.
Well I got my Bankroll to over $43 this week. If I didn't go card dead for 3 days, I would of had more. All in all, it was a good week. Next week my goal is to double what I have now.
Was a really good day for me. I doubled my $43, and then some. I won B2B today, which helped push me over my goals for the week. My new goals for the week are to get my BR to $75 on Carbon and Juicy. My BR is divided on 2 sites, so I'll try and build them both to over $100 before I start to play MTT.
Very impressive MrB2B i was at all your FT, you play good cards very patient and make good lay downs. Just hope your BRM is as good as your game youll be cashing out 4 digits real soon.
Just went thru the thread and thats really impressive of getting your BR up. I would say there shouldnt be a limit to start playing the $1 mtts unless you play the rebuys/addons. But since you're building your roll from these freerolls, then its smart to take it slowly and build with little risk. Just dont ever tilt, and you should be good. Looking forward to more updates, gl!
When your bankroll is small then play sit and goas full ring or 50
How confident are you? I would say if youre pretty confident 50-60, if your not too confident then 100. What you can do is if your at 50 to 60 play 5 or so tourneys and if youre not doing well move back down to macro stakes. Just what I would do.
good one
50$ go on cashgame 0,02/0,05
if you want to play tournaments you should have money for 20-30 buy-ins. If you want to play cash game 100 bigblinds should be enough. But dont put everything to your stack on cashgame.
beter 40 buy-ins
I read some articles that show, more or less, 40 buy-ins (in tournaments). There are authors who speak up 400buy-ins, but I think exaggeration.
i think anything more than $50 is a good time to start playing real money..
I would play SnGs and .02/.04 cash game
