1 Phil Hellmuth
2 Phil Ivey
3 Daniel Negruenu
4 Micheal Mizrachi
5 Johnny Chan
If you disagree lets hear why. I can explain why everyone is there, but I would love to hear a different case.

What are basing this on and where is Marlydog1812?
Career tournament play, not cash
It would be hard to rank without knowing the criteria of "top 5 career". Its too general of a statement. Cash games, tourneys, endorsements, other investments, ect...
Bill Gates plays poker as a rec player ....his career earnings blow everyone on your list out of the water.
Stu Unger reportedly won 30 million gambling but died broke ... how does something like that factor into what you are asking?
Doyle winning 1 million in 1970's dollars if different than durrr winning 1 million in 2011 dollars. (inflation)
just tournament play , not bill gates he has never won any touney
I did not refresh b4 I hit sumbit ... lol ^^^
I guess we could look at career tourney ... Jamie Gold won 12 million in one tourney ... has the grinder made that in his total career?
I did not refresh b4 I hit submit ... lol ^^^

yea its not by winning obv jamie gold then yang and duhamel etc. this is career acheivements. 1st places count. wpt wins wsop wins and final tables. I could look up the list for career winnings. This is rankings of tournament poker career.
Ya, looks like it's just tournament winnings from the big tournaments. I'd like to see figured of how much the best ring players made in their career. It would be shocking.
sorry about the double post ... "an error has occurred please wait 9 seconds" I'm batting a 1000 in this thread. Anyways ..

yea im not denying who is on the money list. Im sayin jonnie chan is a better player then gold. Also 3 of those 5 made my list. Who would you rather have in a bet mizrachi or jamie gold. Thats what my list is. Current rankings of skill based on career.
Why's Doyle Brunson name isn't up there he has as many bracelets as Phil Hellmuth
i liked the list but id take off daniel and johnny chan. gotta put mike matusow and erik sidel up there.
the fact that jamie gold is on that list is insulting to every poker player ever (lucky bastard).... my top 5:
5. Dan Harrington
4. Johnny Chan
3. Erik Seidel
2. Phil Hellmuth
1. Phil Ivey
I'm not a Gold fan at all so easily I rather back the grinder. Where would Seidel rank on your list? 6th ...10th... 20th??
If you pulled grinder off and put Seidel on I'd like your list more ... Seidel is on a heater this year and done plenty in the past ... 8 wsop bracelets to go with his 16 mil.

No one has brought up this name yet so I will. I don't know where someone like Elky fits in (not saying top 5 all time). He's done a lot both online and live. Online years are kind of like "dog years" and his online accomplishments are very impressive. Since he shifted over to the live scene he has won plenty. Bertrand "Elky" Grospellier - Wikipedia
5. Micheal Mizraci
4. Dan Harrington
3. Phil Hellmuth
2. Doyle Brunson
1. Phil Ivey
A fair list I must say, but due to a lack of playing time with those you have mentioned, I have a different group of players entirely. My list consists of those who I have experience playing with. Hopefully it will help, at least to let each of you know who to stay away from in the client.
1. Tiarra
2. Acetoo
3. Zab
4. Prawney
5. TheBeesKnees
Um, why the heck is PHIL UP THEREEEEE?????!?!??!!?!?!?!?
Yeah ok, well maybe before posting like this you should do some research, just dont even make a thread if you dont know what your talking about
i think you have a pretty good list because it is based on more then just one statistic
Why is Mizrachi on the list of top 5? LOL.... He's a far cry from top 5, maybe if he's lucky to be top 20 IMO. Where's Stu Ungar? Erik Seidel? Jason Mercier? Doubt Brunson makes my top 10, even that's a stretch, but yeah. Re-evaluate the list.
