How to stop SCAMMERS *********** EASY *****************

Posted above are two threads that are needed here @ PO.

All the same rules need to be followed.

But most of all the mods and zab have to care.

You have to care about your members not getting scammed, because right now it seems Zab has brainwashed all mods into regurgitating this "trading outside the system" phrase they use so much.

ok, this "system" you speak of only allows for loans up to 4K points, yes, 8 dollars.
Obviously the system doesn't work as we are all adults and handle waaaaaay more than 8 measly dollars.
Furthermore it is foolishness for any person to feel like an 8 dollar loaning limit is adequate.

When someone asks for a trade, there poker screen name needs to be attached... whether it is in a thread or in main chat, when someone asks for a trade, they need to attach the screen name of whatever skin they are trying to trade to or from.

This way we can just search this persons name in the feedback thread or the player to player thread, and see all comments ever made about them.

NO PAYPAL allowed in these threads period.

Once scamming is confirmed, INSTA BAN.

People are limited to the amount of poker screen names they can make in their name.

Poker sites are even banning the poker acct's of scammers with proof.

This can be discussed more, but stopping scamming is not hard, it just has to be something the establishment cares about and be at the fore front of their minds.


All in all, not only can we ban a scammer, but we can even get their poker acct's banned. This will put them in a real dilemma of trying to even play poker at all, let alone scam.

Good idea, but people bubble chat each other all the time and do paypal. Again, if I put these rules in place and people trade with paypal and then get scammed.. My new defense is "You didn't follow the rules"

Then I'll get posts.. ZAB DOESN'T CARE ABOUT SCAMMERS, HE'S JUST HIDING BEHIND "You didn't follow the no paypal rules"

So again, this puts us in the same boat

Get rid of bubble chat, anything said through there can be sent in PM or thread or chat?

That doesnt help.. We still have PMs and the normal chat

Zab, if you added these two threads to PO, then YES, you could justifiably say, "You didn't follow the rules"

I also think poke is saying these threads will also ban any trading and make it against the rules to trade outside of the threads, am I right poke? Anyone caught trading outside is breaking your rules.

Pretty sure 95% of your regulars will follow this and catch others that are not following.

All you are doing is adding in language that says "If you trade with PayPal you are on your own and PokerOwned won't do anything to pursue the scammers"

Is that better or worse than what I do now? Now I at least try to recover your funds

yes, someone can create another PO name
no, they cannot create another (are not supposed to be able to) poker skin name

The one way to stop scammers is to banned them.

Here's the biggest problem with these scams...

A lot of people have no qualms about violating a poker skin's TOC by creating multiple names, because they have no intent to cash out - their intent is to take their profit and sell it to someone for paypal.

The marketplace works well for trades that involve PO currency - should we be documenting every paypal purchase on the site?

infractions should be given to anyone mentioning paypal, dealing with a trade, in the chatbox or in a thread.
so many infraction results i a temp ban, with perma ban consideration.

if people PM and bubble about paypal, its on them

but i think PO should be firmly against paypal n poker trading

I am only part way through this thread, but I can attest that there is a member here I have stopped 4 or 5 of their accounts in 2 weeks of them being banned and they had new names on the poker sites to play in our games, that easy.

Um, this is pretty much what we do now that you don't like.. "If people trade outside the marketplace, it's on them" but it's ok when we're talking about paypal?

yeah cuz it means they are less likely to try and get a deal that they know is too good to be true, they do it now cuz they think to themselves "its ok zb will cover me if it goes tits up"

There is another option, but it will cost YOU THE USER.

There's a system in place on my other site Ownedcore.com where traders can verify their identity. You would have to pay XX # of points do this feature, but do it once and you are good to go.

Scammers probably wouldn't go through the hassle... +if you agree to do it, both you and the person you are trading with will have access to the information (name, phone #).

I'm all for this. You're right, most scammers aren't going to want to spend something to get something.

I think those who are serious about trading in good faith would consider the points a small price to pay. New users will find it cost prohibitive I'm sure, but then again this isn't a trading site rather it is a poker site that should accommodate trading ONLY as a courtesy to those whom have put in time here.

im all for stopping scammers but i think insta banning ppl for mentioning paypal or infracting them is just plain retarded. i could post my transaction history from paypal and show you thousands of dollars in trades from ppl here on pokerowned involving paypal. NOT ONCE have i ever been scammed or have i screwed another member using paypal. i just trade with longtime wellknown members.

furthermore i like the idea of people adding screennames during a trade. ive mentioned this before. if someone scams then we should get their poker accounts banned. screw being banned here. ppl dont care about that at all. proven that its easy to just make a new account here. you take away their way to make money from scamming(POKER ACCOUNTS) then they will be screwed for a little bit. at least til they move or whatnot.

Bottom line ZAB, You have to have a Zero Tolerance Policy on Blatant scamming. I saw a thread in here the other day, a scammer was trying to get reinstated so he could do more biz. The guy ran off with some dude's money and blamed it on Drugs. The simple fact that this guy was even getting a chance to state his case made me want to throw up. These crippled dogs have to be put out of there misery.
