I recently saw Howard Lederer's training vids. They are uninformative, look like they were thrown together on the fly in a few minutes, and if I didn't know anything about the game I'd be totally clueless as to what was going on.

Are you sure you aren't clueless as to what is going on now? ever think of that? BOom
Man thanks for the info here. I will stay away from that. I dont trust him anyway.
Never cared for Howard Lederer; I bet he would say the same about me. LOL!
Howard used to be ok. I remember seeing the early wpt shows, it was like he was always at a final table. Clearly, scamming people meant more than wpt wins.
Personally training videos are a waste of time. Unless you have the ability of! Monkey see Monkey do....other than that, i think learning as you go is better.
The best place for strategy is the PO chat room duhhhhhh everyone knows that!
Iv always disliked Howard lederer probably the worst training material would be some of the stuff iv seen online , iv liked Annie duke but never Howard
never really cared for howard ethier and it wouldnt surpise me if he had some people ghost write his material the only thing this person truely cares about is the $
me too never cared for him very dull and stuff like that
yeah i really don't care much for Howard Lederer either, i wouldn't even spend my time with any of his training materials.
Lederer had a set of TV spots too - I don't remember what show it was associated with, but they would sometimes break out to a Lederer training vid. They were terrible - boring, VERY basic, and sometimes (according to other authors) just plain wrong on strategy
so what is the best trainer out there?
I don't like someone who stole my money and thinks he didn't do nothing wrong!
have to agree with you there daman!!!!
All training books and videos can be good but as u know that what they did may not work for you
id say the worst way to train yerself at poker is by letting your drunk friend sit next to u and have to listen to him tell u what to do each hand
I got videos at the library from Annie Duke and Hellmuth... worthless
Lederer's videos were made quite some time ago and mostly talked about Limit Holdem. For that time and subject the videos weren't that bad. But I found them to be incredibly depressing. His presentation took all the fun out of the game.
I'm the guy who bought Antonio Esfandiari's book, "In the Money". That was a waste of $15.95.
for good training videos then subscribe to Gripsed on youtube or HowToPlayPokerVOD where over 2000 card runners videos have been uploaded.
my worst training menter ever was my mom. she kept telling me to play on every hand.
I wouldnt waste my time reading or watching anything from that lowlife or his sister or any of the other FT crooks!
You have to watch what "pro" recommends doing in poker. One actually advised running down the clock online every chance you get, theory being that as you drag your azz, the other tables are losing players. Great strategy, except for the fact that your tables hands per hour are so low that once you get moved, you (and the rest of your table) are now an extreme short stacks, as all those leaving players left huge amounts of chips to other players, lol. So, you cannot even make the SS at your new table fold to your all in w AA, as it just does not cost that much. Does that AA hold? At less than 5 BB's, what does it matter? But since a "pro" advised it...
Had a guy do it yesterday at Bovada. He tried to make the money (1.89 bottom pay in a 2.20 game? Genius!) by running down the timer EVERY hand, and he still could not do it. Once our table broke up, we were all very short stacks. Sure enough, watched him shove near the bubble with KK UTG (smart boy was now at 3 BB's, LMAO), and got called by a huge stack with j-rag; J-rag hit two pair and he was gone. I ended up bubbling as I was card dead, at 5 BB's, and had to shove my A-10 UTG +2 right into a A-J in the SB. Nothing like a whole table being 10 BB's below average because of some a-hole fish who cannot even figure out why it's a bad idea. ARGH!
Idiots. I try to explain it, but always hear "oh, so you think you're a pro";
Thanks for the info. Never cared for his useless stuff tho anyways and not sure how anyone could possibly find it the least bit beneficial but it is wut it is I suppose LOL Good luck on the felts to you.

I dont like Howard Lederer I wouldnt take any advice from him
ive noticed that as far as training videos and such goes, the old-timers in the professional poker scene tend to do very poor jobs when it comes to creating and producing quality informative videos. The new generation of poker, all the 20 something grinders of age, are the ones who tend to have mastered the art of creating and making solid interesting informative poker videos.
Howard has to be the most boring player to watch ever!
ive seen a site that said its good to fold AA in late position if your close to the money to stay alive lol saddd
if you could atch the wpt old school seasons you could learn quite a bit actually. you sould check it out
Several poker training books exist, but lavez think we should know more deeply the game on the field, so to play live poker and leverage the knowledge ...
