i abrev. pgh = plays good hands, fish atc =any 2, plh = plays alot hands i use tags too but looks like merge got rid of em
So no bet size notes on certain hands ?
nope i just look for bets that dont make sense. i dont note it - say like a 100 bet into a 2k pot . i dont note patterns except those that raising my blinds. i dont note 3x times bet pre out of post. with a10 nah
I have a shit load of paper clips and most say stupid mother fuckers!!!! And Stupid Fkin $#*@'S
lol this kinda reminds me of how useless mine were too, when I played cash games before black friday, all my notes would be is this idiot owes me X dollar amount. I would only do it to the ones who played horribly and won a big pot, but knew when I saw them at the tables again.
yeah trying to get more notes on ppl. the ones i have just give me an idea on how i thk that player is overall. good playyer, slow plays or donk. etc. i need to get better at note taking
By nationality, Fat Norwegian. Well fed Asian. Starved Russian.
Seriously for tournaments no one here takes notes on blind levels and bet sizing in said blind levels ?
I dont take notes if i play with someone enough where notes would actually make a difference, I can usually remember the player... I would hate to get wrapped up into thinking some one was a bad player just because i caught them on tilt or on an off day and made a bad decision based on bad or ill informed notes
Mine are mostly negative, I'll admit, but I definitely have notes that say "if he's betting he has it" or "careful - will trap" and even "seems like a decent person" ... the last one is, of course, a social commentary for someone who isn't either a flaming asshole at the table but also isn't just passive
I take lots of notes...in the middle of something but I'll post a more thorough outline in a bit, but to sum up, I use OPR to check ABI's (to see if they are playing above or below their normal - usually a solid tell into what their style will be), and other stats, then I use color coding to differentiate players at a glance, and finally I add detailed notes about individual hands.
I can remember, especially when I focused primarily on mixed games, having notes on many players. The notes were universally negative, but vague. Then I started noticing those players were always at the FT's, so I realized my note-taking was almost pure tilt-reactions. Later, I was fortunate to learn some tips from the games bigger "balla's" at the time (pre-BF), and those served me well.
hellmuth is such a douche in that video
at the freerolls it is usually the same people or mostly the same people so i kind of know what to look for without notes
What do you look for? I look to see if they are wearing pants.
i dont take notes either, but i do tag some of the players! but i usually remember the dumb ones!!
I use to take ass loads of notes but that only goes so far. Like I have read before in theis thread
1. That player may have had an off night
2. Eventually you need to update all your notes because the point of poker is to improve so your notes may no longer be correct.
I just like potfan watch for how a player is betting according to the situation.
These points have merit, but that's why I use overall stats to classify players more so than any one situation. I have found a fairly easy way to group players that isn't dependent on any one hand. Sometimes I've got the whole table coded before I see them play, then I can add details that either confirm or contradict, but generally they fall right where my system expected.
A solid LAG player and a solid TAG player are going to approach situations differently. Also, a player who averages $2 buy-ins but for some reason is at your table in a $109 is generally not going to play his normal game. Likewise for the reverse.
I usually document names upon first contact and refrain from any "labeling" until minimum second session against them or atleast 4-6 button rotations if a long first session. I play with a small notepad Live and usually use notepad on windows when online
I start out with taking notes on specific plays and as I gain more information I'll summarize the info at the top of the notes. And occasionally I kick myself for not reading the notes before playing a hand a certain way.
most the time i only take notes at final tables, but if some1 makes bad or great plays i'll take note
By taking notes, it makes you pay more attention to the whole game going on..
The best way , is to take as much note as you can on a hand they play. then just skim through it.. watever key hands they play and show. i usually take those down.
each player has a different style when playing, play is to watch for analyzing movements and styles varied between them
in your brain tom jones has the biggest brain here so don't bother tho
I typed up my note-taking outline, but it hurts me to put it into a thread with such a disastrous spelling error in the title. And on page 4, no less. Maybe it's time for a new thread.
I jus keep some mental notes when applicable and in these forum games generally it's the same people most of the time playn them so easier to remember how they play.
Nice comment bud, and i like the Hellmuth clip lmao
I Call that turtle mode...
taking mental control of each of the players, knowing their style and way of playing to well to consider as we face this.
can you close this thread that is fucking sick shit to have to see.
faggy don't scroll up less u want to see some nasty dshty
If its a live game, I just write my notes on my opponent's forehead.
I do however highlight the players name in green if im at a final table with them in a real money game, i dont do it to the PO Freeroll games
