Just replied to a thread that brought up a question.
What do you think the ratio for online hands verus live hands played in a hour. Myself, I have no idea, I've only played live once. If you want, you can give two examples, one with live dealer shuffling cards, another live with auto shuffle machine.

Obivously, Irv doesn't understand the logic behind the question. So I'll go into more detail, like I'm explaining it to a 8 year old. Ratio live hands to online hands equals ( that's = to those who have trouble with words ) how many bad beats online to live bad beats.
Online is about twice as many hands on hour for a single table. Around 25 hands an hour is typical live for NLH. 50 hands and hour for online NLH. Your mileage may vary of course.
If you do split pot poker like Omaha 8 or stud 8, the ratio is a little greater then twice as many hands. It takes a significant amount of time for a dealer to divide and push the chips. Around 3 times as many hands there.
The ratio of hands played would depend on the types of games. Online can be anywhere from fast to super turbo charged fast. However, the ratio of bad beats, pocket aces, flush draws, etc. should be exactly the same.

Ive never played with a auto shuffler but im thinking its around 2.5x as many hands online and thats just a regular game, no turbo or rush and just regular shuffling by dealer.. Thus i guess 2.5 x as many bad beats would apply to that figure as well. Now in non casino games where you can have 2 decks going it can speed things up greatly. Some of the bar games i used to play in had 2 decks at the table and as long as you keep your eyes on each dealer to make sure someone isnt stacking it goes much quicker and id say its only a 1.5x to 1 vrs online
i think its easily 2:1 online hands being the ones with more bad beats, could be higher... who knows

There is a lot more hands dealt on-line. Live people are not sitting behind a computer hitting buttons fast. Live you are reading your opponent and taking more time to understand all the players. On-line your going by stats.

I think to answer OP, I see maybe one tenth the bad beats in real life poker, probably because I see one tenth the hands in 2 hours.

i played two live sessions for two days and i saw so many fullhouses flopped on K2o, J3, two pairs often beat everything and even straight was dealt directly from the flop to the river :)
